I usually ended my road trips in Monterey but sometimes went on to Santa Cruz, San Francisco or Santa Rosa... many nice places to go and great roads to get you there...

Information: Rocky Point Restaurant was one of Aunt Esther’s favorites so it’s got to be good! Mostly its about the scenic drive to get there and the breathtaking views from the restaurant when you are there.
Near Points of Interest: This is the last page of the photo tour but it is not the end of the scenic road trip; there are many vacation photo opportunities in the next 10 miles between here and Carmel by the Sea and there are three beautiful coastal California State Parks along the way, Garrapata State Park (5 miles), Point Lobos State Reserve- www.pointlobos.org (7 miles), and Carmel River State Beach (9 miles).
Beach Access and Day Use Picnic Areas: All of the just mentioned California State Parks have beach access and the beach at The Carmel River State Beach is a long white sandy one. Point Lobos State Reserve has a nice day use picnic area.
Near places to Eat: Going south the closest other restaurant is The Big Sur River Inn (14 miles), going north just after the Carmel River Bridge are shopping malls, the first Crossroads Shopping Village has R.G. Burgers and other side of the road Carmel Barnyard Shopping Village has From Scratch Restaurant.
Near Hotel Lodgings & Resorts: Going south the Big Sur River Inn is 14 miles; going north the Carmel River Inn is 10 miles.
Near Campgrounds: About 10 miles south east is Botcher's Gap Campground; about 11 miles south is Andrew Molera State Park trail camp.
Other Facilities, Services or Activities: Just 10 beautiful scenic miles north on the Pacific Coast Highway is Carmel by the Sea with the Carmel Mission and 17 mile drive; and Monterey has the Aquarium and so much of historical and nautical interest not to mention the wonder Fisherman’s Warf. If you want to vacation the primo possibilities from this spot are almost limitless.
